How much does website improvement cost in 2026: tasks, prices, and how it differs from a redesign or maintenance
Website improvement means one-off changes to a site that already works: fixing an error, adding a payment or form, speeding up pages. In the Russian freelance market, fixed-scope tasks on FL.ru start at 2,990 ₽ and a Moscow web developer costs about 1,600 ₽ an hour. At VITON13 one defined fix costs from $13.

What is website improvement and which tasks does it cover?
Improvement is any one-off change to a site that already runs: it is built, indexed and taking visitors, but something needs fixing or adding. The contractor enters an existing system and changes only the place that needs work.
| Task | What usually happens | Size of the work |
|---|---|---|
| Fix an error | A form stops sending leads, a pay button does nothing, the layout breaks on phones | Small: a few hours |
| Connect a ready-made service | Online payment, chat, Telegram alerts, analytics, CRM | Small: hours to a day |
| Add a block or feature | A calculator, a quiz, a booking form, a page on an existing template | Small to medium: 1–5 days |
| A new section with logic | Customer account, filtered catalogue, data exchange with an accounting system | Large: this is development |
The line is drawn by the goal. A different look and structure is a redesign. Changes needed all the time are cheaper under maintenance.
How much does website improvement cost in 2026?
There is no single price, because it depends on the task. On 4 November 2026 the site-improvement category on FL.ru, a Russian freelance exchange, listed 18 offers. Seventeen were ordinary tasks at a fixed price between 2,990 and 6,500 ₽, with a median of 3,900 ₽. The eighteenth was a landing page for 208,000 ₽: that is development, not improvement, so we leave it out.
| Task | Price | Time |
|---|---|---|
| Edits and improvements on WordPress, Tilda or Bitrix | 2,990 ₽ | 1 day |
| Send form leads to Telegram | 3,887 ₽ | 1 day |
| Move a site to new hosting with domain, mail and SSL | 4,225 ₽ | 1 day |
| Fix indexing errors reported by Yandex Webmaster, up to 15 | 4,225 ₽ | 2 days |
| Connect YooKassa online payment | 5,070 ₽ | 2 days |
For hourly work, Workspace, using its own salary calculator, puts a Moscow web developer at about 1,600 ₽ an hour, a layout specialist at about 1,400 ₽ and site support and development at about 1,300 ₽. The partnerkin.com directory lists one seller at 500 ₽ an hour, but at that price it is hard to tell who will check the neighbouring pages.
Read these as the floor for a clean case: a standard platform, a clear task, open access. An old, undocumented site with an error that cannot be repeated takes more hours.
What makes a fix cost more on your site?
The price of a fix is the time to understand, change and test, multiplied by a rate. These make the time longer:
- Platform and code: a popular CMS with a clean theme is quicker than a hand-written site with no documentation.
- No test copy: every change is made more carefully and checked on the live site.
- An error that does not repeat: a fault that happens sometimes takes longer to find than to fix.
- A shared template: a change there needs every page type checked.
- Urgency and access: same-day work costs more, and waiting for a hosting password stretches the timeline.
An illustration, not a statistic. A lead form stops sending email: an hour to reproduce, an hour and a half to fix, half an hour to test. Three hours at 1,600 ₽ is 4,800 ₽, close to the packages in the table.
One-off fix, redesign or maintenance: which one do you need?
These three jobs solve different problems, and choosing wrongly costs more than the fix. Choose by the outcome you want.
| Situation | Choose | Why |
|---|---|---|
| One thing broke, or one service must be connected | One-off fix | The result is clear in advance and the price is set before work starts |
| The site looks dated and its structure hurts sales | Redesign | The logic and look of pages change, not a detail |
| Changes are needed monthly and leads arrive around the clock | Maintenance | Response speed, updates and backups matter |
| You do not know what is wrong | An audit first | Without a list of problems neither a fix nor a redesign can be priced |
A simple test: count how many times in the last six months you called a developer. Once or twice, pay per fix. Monthly or more, agree on maintenance.
When is rebuilding cheaper than improving?
Improvement pays while the site under it is sound. These signs say you are patching a weak foundation:
- Each fix breaks something nearby, and acceptance turns into hunting for a new fault.
- The source code or admin access is lost and the earlier contractor is unreachable.
- The platform or plugins no longer update, and new browser versions start to conflict with them.
Check with arithmetic: add up the estimates for every change you need over the next twelve months and compare them with an estimate for a new site. If the first total nears the second, patching costs more than replacing. An honest quote includes the option not to fix.
How do you write a brief so the quote is accurate?
A quote is only as exact as the description of the task. Put eight things in the brief:
- The address of the page where it happens and what you see there now.
- What should happen instead, in one sentence.
- The steps to repeat the problem: what to click, what to type, in what order.
- The browser, device and version, if not everyone is affected.
- A screenshot or a short screen recording.
- When it started and what changed before: an update, a new plugin, a text edit.
- What must not be touched: pages, integrations, data.
- Who accepts the work and by what sign: "the form lead arrives by email and in the CRM".
If you do not know the cause, say so: your observation helps more than your diagnosis.
How do you give a contractor access to the site safely?
Create a separate account for the contractor with the smallest role that does the job, and do not share your own password. Actions stay visible and access can be withdrawn without changing the owner's password.
| System | What to give | What the documentation says |
|---|---|---|
| WordPress | A separate user with the Administrator role for the length of the work; Editor is enough for text changes | Administrator has access to all administration features; Editor can publish and manage posts, including other users' posts |
| Tilda | A collaborator in site settings with limited access | Access is full or limited; the feature is paid, one collaborator can get 30 days free, and the person needs their own account |
| GitHub | The Write role for a developer, Maintain for a project manager | Write is for those who push to the project, Maintain manages the repository without destructive actions, Admin has full access |
| Yandex Metrica | Guest access with "Editing" or "Analytics" | Editing manages the counter except deleting or moving it; Analytics only creates goals and segments |
| Yandex Webmaster | Delegated rights from the owner | The owner can grant rights to others, change and cancel them; users are listed under Settings, Access rights |
| Hosting and domain | A separate panel user or SFTP account; the domain stays with the owner | Hosting documentation differs, so check your own |
Work in this order. Take a backup first: WordPress advises saving both the database and the files, since a full restore needs both, and always backing up before an upgrade. Pass passwords through a password manager, not a messenger. After acceptance, revoke access and change any password the contractor saw.
How do you accept the work and what should you check?
Acceptance is more than viewing a page. Check four things while the contractor is still available:
- The scenario from the brief passes: the test lead arrived, the payment went through, the page opened.
- Neighbouring pages and forms work as before, especially on a phone.
- Analytics goals and counters still fire: a template change can easily drop the tracking code.
- You hold a note of what changed, in which files, and how to roll back.
Tie the last payment to acceptance. If something broke, write at once: the cause is easier to fix while the contractor remembers what changed.
How VITON13 does a point fix
Improvement is sold in two one-off formats. One defined fix is one problem with one cause. When several agreed small items need closing, the Site Fix Pack covers them. In both we reproduce the fault first, change the cause rather than the symptom, then check neighbouring pages and the release. Monthly maintenance and a redesign are separate services, and if the task is really one of those, the quote says so.

No published client case with figures for website fixes yet
VITON13 has no published client case on website fixes with measured results, so no invented results appear here. The arithmetic in the price section is an illustration on the Workspace rate, not the outcome of anyone's work.
What this does not prove
- Three hours and 4,800 ₽ is a calculation for a clear task; on your site the hours depend on the platform and the state of the code.
- FL.ru prices are offers from individual sellers on one exchange, not a market price list and not VITON13 prices.
Questions and answers
How much does website improvement cost?
Typical one-off tasks on the FL.ru exchange cost 2,990–6,500 ₽, with a median of 3,900 ₽. For hourly work in Moscow, Workspace puts the rate at about 1,300–1,600 ₽. Large changes with new logic are priced separately. At VITON13 one fix starts from $13.
How is improvement different from a redesign?
Improvement changes one place on a working site: it fixes an error, adds a form or connects a service. A redesign changes the look and structure of pages as a whole. If the site should look the same after the work, it is improvement; if it should look different, it is a redesign and is priced another way.
Can a site built by someone else be improved?
Yes, if there is access to the admin or the code and a copy can be taken. The contractor first has to learn how the site is built, so foreign code takes more hours. If the source is lost and the site no longer updates, the quote may suggest a rebuild instead of a fix.
Should I give the contractor my owner password?
No. Create a separate account with the smallest role. You see their actions and can revoke access without changing your password. Yandex Metrica and Webmaster have built-in access sharing, Tilda has the collaborator mode, and GitHub has repository roles.
What if something else breaks after the fix?
Report it at once with the steps to see it. Good work leaves a note of what changed and a rollback point, so the contractor can restore the earlier state and investigate. To get fewer surprises, check neighbouring pages at acceptance, not a month later.
How do I know I need maintenance, not a one-off fix?
Count your calls to a developer over six months. One or two means paying per fix is cheaper. Monthly or more, with leads arriving around the clock, points to maintenance: you want fast answers, updates and backups without explaining the site again each time.
