How much does product photography cost? Prices per photo, per SKU and per day
Product photography costs about $25–$120 per white-background image, $75–$500 for a lifestyle image and $1,000–$3,000 for a studio day, according to 2026 price guides that disagree with each other. Ten SKUs with five frames each come to roughly $2,100–$6,900. VITON13 photographs products from $53.
How much does product photography cost?
Sellers quote in four units: per photo, per product (SKU), per hour and per day, so two quotes compare only once each becomes one number, the cost of a finished, retouched image. The table sets the common routes side by side.
| Route | Published price | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Smartphone and lightbox | Kit about $100–$300 (Prodofoto), then your own hours | Consistency across ten or more products; shiny items |
| Photo service (Soona) | $39 a photo plus a $149 studio fee; styling from $149 an hour | Models, styling and edits cost extra; the page dates from 2024 |
| Studio, per image | Basic white $45–$65 (Razor Creative Labs); $25–$70 across 11–50 images (Squareshot) | Which retouching and revisions the price includes |
| Freelancer or studio, per day | $1,000–$3,000 a day (Squareshot); $500–$3,000 (Shopify) | How many finished images the day delivers |
| AI-generated from your photo | Vendor claim: about $1 for four images (Prodofoto) | You still supply a clean original, and a person checks every result |
| VITON13 | From $53 AI-assisted or $73 human-led | The written scope sets how many products and frames the price covers |
What does each type of image cost?
A listing mixes image types that cost very different amounts. The main image on white is the cheapest and the one every marketplace checks first; lifestyle frames need a set, props and sometimes a model.
| Image type | Published range | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Hero on white | $40–$120 (Lars Miller, Amazon price list, May 2026) | Razor lists $45–$65 for basic white; ghost-mannequin or suspended shots add $50–$150 |
| Secondary on white: angle, detail, scale | $40–$80 | Cheaper when shot in the same session as the hero |
| Lifestyle or in use | $200–$500 (Lars Miller, May 2026); $75–$300 (same author, March 2026) | Props, set and models drive the range |
| Infographic: photo plus text | $150–$300 | Includes design work; card design has its own guide |
| 360° spin | $150–$500 per product (Lars Miller, March 2026); $75–$150 (Razor) | 24–72 frames per product |
Should you pay per photo, per SKU or per day?
- Per photo: predictable when you know the frame count. It rewards volume only if the studio publishes tiers.
- Per SKU: one fee for a set of frames. Ask how many frames and how much retouching the fee covers.
- Per hour: fine for creative direction, risky for catalogues because nobody knows the frame count in advance.
- Per day: pays off when the day is full. One photographer puts a half day at 15–30 lifestyle images and a full day at 30–60 (Lars Miller).
Convert every quote to a price per delivered image: day rate plus retouching plus extras, divided by finished images. Squareshot’s own example shows why. A $2,000 day that delivers 50 images costs $40 an image; the same day delivering 11 images costs $182 an image.
What pushes the price up or down?
- Number of products: booking eight or more SKUs at once cuts the cost per SKU by 20–30% (Lars Miller). Razor takes 15–20% off at 200 or more products.
- Shiny, textured or transparent products: metal, glass and fine textures cost 50–100% more per image than matte items (Lars Miller).
- Retouching: basic clean-up is usually included; advanced retouching costs $10–$50 an image.
- Styling and models: styling adds $500–$1,500 a day and talent $150–$400 an hour (Lars Miller); Razor quotes apparel models at $500–$2,000 a day.
- Speed: a 48-hour rush adds 30–50% (Lars Miller); Razor puts rush fees at 10–30%.
- Usage rights: Lars Miller includes Amazon and your own site, and charges $100–$500 more per image for paid social and outdoor advertising.
- Place: Razor says Brooklyn studios charge $50–$75 an image and studios in smaller markets $35–$50.
What do Amazon, Wildberries and Ozon require from your photos?
A photo that breaks a platform rule means a reshoot, so start the shot list from the rules. The table uses the platforms’ own pages wherever our tools could open them.
| Platform | Main image | Technical limits | Read |
|---|---|---|---|
| Amazon | Pure white background (RGB 255); the whole product fills 85–100% of the frame; no text, logos or props that are not in the box | JPEG preferred; at least 1,000 px on the longest side, 1,600 px or more recommended | Amazon moderator post, Feb 2026; Seller Central help needs a sign-in |
| Wildberries | Clean, neutral background that contrasts with the product; product uncropped; marketing text or a badly generated image can lower the card’s rating | JPG, PNG or WEBP; at least 700×900 px; up to 10 MB; up to 30 images; two or more to appear in search | Wildberries seller help, updated 28 Aug 2026 |
| Ozon | Vertical 3:4 images; square only for Ozon Fresh groceries | Check the limits in your seller account | SelSup, 10 Mar 2025; Ozon’s own pages were blocked to our tools |
Shoot at full size and crop later, so one master set feeds each platform. Leave room above and below the product, because Ozon’s 3:4 frame is taller than a square.
What would ten SKUs cost?
Assume ten products and five frames each: a hero and three secondary frames on white, plus one lifestyle frame, 50 frames in all. No models, basic retouching, no infographics. The totals are our arithmetic on the published prices, not quotes.
| Route | Arithmetic | Total |
|---|---|---|
| Photo service list price (Soona) | 50 frames × $39 + $149 studio fee | $2,099 before styling and props |
| Per-image price list (Lars Miller, Amazon) | Hero 10 × $40–$120, secondary 30 × $40–$80, lifestyle 10 × $200–$500 | $3,600–$8,600; about $2,520–$6,880 after the 20–30% multi-SKU saving |
| Studio day (Squareshot day rate) | 1–2 days at $1,000–$3,000; its example fits 50 images into one day | $1,000–$6,000 plus retouching |
| Smartphone and lightbox | Kit $100–$300, ten products, fifty frames | $100–$300 plus your hours |
| AI-generated from your photos | Vendor claim of about $1 per product | About $10, plus ten clean originals and a person checking each result |
| VITON13 | Written scope for your catalogue | From $53 per package; the quote lists products and frames |
Per frame that is about $42 on the cheapest route and $50–$138 on the price-list route; per SKU, roughly $210 to $690. Infographics and video are separate lines: card design is priced in the guide on product card cost.

The photography package returns a shot map, lighting and surface direction, hero, detail, scale and use frames, a retouched master set and platform crop exports. It takes 3–5 working days.
Is AI-generated or smartphone photography cheaper, and is it allowed?
Both are cheaper per frame, and both have limits. AI tools build scenes from a photo you supply. Prodofoto, an AI app vendor, claims about $0.25 an image, but that is a vendor’s number, and the original photo and the time to check each result are yours. Wildberries warns that a photo with distorted text or an unnatural look can lower a card’s rating, and Amazon asks for images that accurately represent the product.
A smartphone can meet the size rules: Amazon asks for 1,000 px on the long side and Wildberries for 700×900. What a phone does not fix is light on glossy or transparent products, which Shopify calls harder to capture, or consistency across a whole catalogue.
When is a professional shoot not worth it yet?
- The product or its packaging will change within weeks.
- You have fewer than ten simple, matte products and a lightbox will do.
- Sales are held back by price, reviews or stock rather than by the pictures.
- You have not yet read the image rules for your category.
How VITON13 does it
We start from the questions a buyer asks before adding to the cart: material, scale, detail, use and what is in the box. Those become a shot map, lighting and surface direction, hero, detail, scale and use frames, a retouched master set and exports cut for each platform. In the AI-assisted mode AI supports planning and post-production and a person checks every frame against the product; in the human-led mode a person leads and AI assists. We confirm the narrowest useful scope before any payment.

No published product photography case yet
VITON13 has not yet published a case with a seller’s own product photographs and sales figures, so this guide invents no results. Every number comes from a source below or from arithmetic shown on the page. The first pilot will appear here with the seller’s approval.
What this does not prove
- The ten-SKU budget is arithmetic on published price lists. It does not show what your shoot will cost or what the pictures do for your sales.
Questions and answers
How much should I budget for a full Amazon photo set?
Amazon sets no price. One photographer listed a seven-image set at $250–$800 in March 2026 and $750–$1,400 in May 2026, so ask for a price per delivered frame instead. Lars Miller says most listings need at least seven images and premium brands use nine or ten.
Is a $10 photo too cheap to trust?
Razor Creative Labs argues that services advertising $10 an image usually leave out preparation, retouching, quality control and revisions. That is a studio’s view of its competitors, but the check is sound: ask what is included, how many revision rounds apply, which file sizes you receive and who owns the images before you compare prices.
Do I own the photos, and does usage change the price?
Most photographers grant full commercial rights, according to Lars Miller, though some charge extra for national advertising or high-volume packaging, and he lists $100–$500 more per image for paid social and outdoor use. Get channels, duration and territory in writing. This is a pricing note, not legal advice.
How many images does a marketplace listing need?
Amazon’s moderator post tells sellers to use every image slot and keep the main image on white. Wildberries accepts up to 30 and needs at least two for a card to appear in search. More frames raise the bill, so give every frame one buyer question to answer, such as scale, material or what is in the box.
How long does a product shoot take?
Lars Miller says one SKU with a hero and six more frames takes about half a day on set, a full day covers four to six products, and standard delivery is five to seven business days. Razor Creative Labs quotes seven to ten days. VITON13 delivers in 3–5 working days after the brief is approved.
