How to start selling on Wildberries in 2026: steps, documents, TN VED codes, marking and budget

Who can sell on Wildberries in 2026, and can a company outside Russia?

Wildberries' help centre (updated 1 September 2026) opens seller accounts to companies, sole traders and self-employed people who are Russian tax residents. A foreign company can join if its country is one where WB Partners operates; you pick it in the form. Private individuals and Russian branches of foreign companies cannot.

How much does it cost to open a Wildberries seller account?

On 23 September 2026 a Russian seller pays 5,000 rubles including VAT, about $59. Search results disagree because the amount changed twice in 2025; one Russian guide edited on 17 September 2026 still quotes 10,000.

• It is non-refundable, but the full amount returns as ad credit in WB Promotion, usable for a year.
• Pay in one transfer within 14 days or the account is deleted. Activation usually takes a day, rarely up to 5 working days.
• Commission depends on the category and on the discount Wildberries funds for the buyer; the rate applied appears in the weekly report details, so we quote no “typical” percentage.

What is a TN VED code, and why does everything start with it?

TN VED is the Eurasian Economic Union's ten-digit product classification, built on the Harmonized System. The code decides whether marking applies, which technical regulation covers the product and whether the listing matches its document. Wildberries is blunt: if the code in the card differs from the certificate or declaration, the card is blocked.

• Describe the product as a customs officer would: material, knitted or woven, purpose, and for whom.
• Find the heading, then read the chapter notes, where code boundaries live.
• Run the code through Chestny Znak's marking check; the operator calls its answer advisory.
• Give code and description to an accredited EAEU certification body, which names the regulation and document type.

Does your product need Chestny Znak marking, and what does it cost per batch?

Chestny Znak is Russia's mandatory track-and-trace system: every unit carries its own DataMatrix code. The third light-industry wave on 1 March 2025 added children's clothing, underwear, swimwear, socks, hats and gloves to bed linen, outerwear, shirts and sweaters. Footwear, perfume and dairy are covered too, so check by code.

Codes are cheap: 50 kopecks each before VAT, 61 with 22% VAT, so 500 jumpers need 305 rubles (about $3.60). The cost is set-up: a qualified e-signature, an electronic document exchange (EDO) provider, national catalogue entries, and printing and activating codes before shipping. Goods bought from a Russian manufacturer should arrive coded.

If a code will not scan at drop-off, the unit returns to the pick-up point set in your account; test prints before shipping.

Which documents does Wildberries check before your first shipment?

Permit documents are EAEU certificates and declarations of conformity, state registration and medical registration certificates. EAEU technical regulations and Government Resolution No. 2425 decide whether you need one. Children's products fall under TR CU 007/2011, where the document type depends on the child's age and how closely the item touches the skin.

What extra steps apply if you sell from outside Russia?

Wildberries' page for Armenian sellers shipping to Russian warehouses (17 August 2026) is the clearest template:

• Cards must state the country of manufacture and carry the right documents. If data is wrong, customs may stop the shipment, and logistics costs and penalties fall on the seller (clause 9.10.3 of the offer).
• Goods made outside the five EAEU countries (Russia, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan) need the number of their EAEU customs declaration (DT) in the shipment; under FBS, without it you cannot hand orders over for delivery or print stickers.
• From 1 October 2026 the card tells buyers the goods come from a foreign partner (Article 7 of 289-FZ).

What are the steps from registration to a first order, and how many working days do they take?

This order avoids rework; durations come only from primary sources.

Published durations add up to 7–11 working days, excluding the product, certification and warehouse acceptance, so a realistic plan starts with the certification body.

What should you budget for besides stock, including Russian VAT?

MTS Bank suggested a starting budget of 100,000–150,000 rubles (about $1,190–1,780) in June 2026, without a breakdown. Build your own:

• Entry fee: 5,000 rubles, in effect prepaid advertising for a year.
• Marking codes: 0.61 rubles per unit, plus EDO and labels.
• Conformity document and test samples: quoted by the certification body.
• Packaging, inbound delivery, acceptance and storage: from the Tariffs section.
• Ads beyond the credit, returns and working capital: payouts follow weekly reports.

A Russian business on the simplified tax system pays VAT above 20 million rubles of income (about $238,000) in 2026, 15 million in 2027 and 10 million from 2028, from the month after crossing the line. At the reduced 5% rate, with no input deductions, 1,000 rubles of revenue holds 47.62 rubles of tax; at 22%, 180.33 before deductions. If you expect to cross the line, price VAT in from day one.

What does Russia's platform economy law (289-FZ) change for Wildberries sellers?

Federal Law 289-FZ of 31 July 2025 takes effect on 1 October 2026, a week after this guide was published.

• A discount at your expense needs your consent and at least 5 working days' notice; a minimum price you set bans cheaper sales at your cost, and refusing cannot cost you rating or search position (Article 9).
• Higher platform fees, changed penalties and new acceptance, storage, delivery or return terms need 45 days' notice; other changes need 15 (Article 12). The law does not cap commission.
• A card cannot go live without the required document, marking and Chestny Znak registration details (Article 7).

Cards placed before 1 October will be checked within 180 days (Government Resolution No. 821), so enter documents from the start.
