VJOURNAL: our newsroom in five editions, with quality checks in code

Build and run a newsroom of VITON¹³'s own in five editions (English, Russian, Spanish, French and Hindi) on one domain, journal.viton13.com. A story's versions sit at localized URLs and are linked to one another with hreflang tags, so search engines can show each reader the version in their language.

Drafts are written with AI assistance and four of the five editions come from machine translation, so a style guide alone would not hold: sourcing, the length of titles and descriptions, and repetition all need checks that run in code.

We built the structure the stories are filed in: 14 categories, 8 region desks (Global, Dubai, USA, Spain, China, Japan, Russia and India) and 12 desk bylines, each desk with its own page, plus an authors index and 33 people pages in every edition.

Around the archive sit a sitemap, a separate news sitemap, an RSS feed of the 50 latest items and a public editorial policy. The policy's counts are computed when the site is built, and it carries an AI disclosure.

Before a story is written, a publication gate checks the plan against the archive and returns CREATE, SUPPORT_EXISTING, UPDATE_EXISTING or REJECT_DUPLICATE; re-proposing an existing guide to a capsule wardrobe on a budget returned REJECT_DUPLICATE with exit code 1. At merge, a story that reports facts needs sources on at least two independent outside domains, and its primary source must be on that list; first-party analysis is exempt.

A deterministic quality gate holds SEO titles to 35–60 characters, descriptions to 90–155 and excerpts to 120–260, and rejects placeholder text and leftover chatbot phrases. Every release runs a uniqueness report over all 4,692 stories: it compares five-word shingles and treats a Jaccard similarity of 0.6 or more as a near-duplicate.

Tests forbid any eight-word phrase from repeating within an article body, but only in the 42 repaired Design story groups, in all five editions; all 8 tests passed on 19 September. The news sitemap takes only stories from the last 48 hours and rejects future-dated ones, and the SEO release gate checks both rules.

On 19 September 2026 the journal carried 4,692 stories: 938 in English, 940 in Russian and 938 each in Spanish, French and Hindi; counted once regardless of language, that is 945 distinct stories. The English archive runs from 21 March to 17 September 2026, and its largest bylines are VITON¹³ Editorial (444 stories), VITON¹³ Editorial Intelligence (243) and VJOURNAL Editorial (158).

All 938 English stories cite at least two distinct source domains, 630 domains in all. The journal sitemap lists 5,427 URLs, including 78 archive pages and 13 topic pages per edition. Thirteen of the 14 categories carry stories: SMART, added on 18 September, stays out of the index until its first story.

Drafts are AI-assisted, and the Russian, Spanish, French and Hindi editions are machine translations. Stories are signed by desks: there are no named reporters and no original interviews, and nothing in this case shows that a person reviewed each translation.

The eight-word test covers only the 42 Design story groups, not the whole archive. The uniqueness report is advisory: on 19 September one cluster of paraphrased paragraphs still ran through 54 stories in each edition. The news sitemap was empty that day, as no story was under 48 hours old, so this case claims no Google News coverage.

The case makes no claim about readership, traffic or search rankings. Most story cover images are stock photos or generated.
